* MASTER_SITES cleanup.mat2015-05-141-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - Replace ${MASTER_SITE_FOO} with FOO. - Merge MASTER_SITE_SUBDIR into MASTER_SITES when possible. (This means 99.9% of the time.) - Remove occurrences of MASTER_SITE_LOCAL when no subdirectory was present and no hint of what it should be was present. - Fix some logic. - And generally, make things more simple and easy to understand. While there, add magic values to the FESTIVAL, GENTOO, GIMP, GNUPG, QT and SAMBA macros. Also, replace some EXTRACT_SUFX occurences with USES=tar:*. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - Mk/bsd.database.mk rewrite, new default to db5. - db6 is eligible by default only if installed on the system. - Bump PORTREVISION of all ports that directly depend on BerkeleyDB or where USE_BDB is found in the port's directory - Patch a few ports such that they will pick up or work with newer versions. - Add UPDATING entry - Drive-by format fix for pks - Drop BerkeleyDB option from mail/popular for now, requires more work. - Exp-run logs linked from the PR below. - Ports that do not build (IGNORE, BROKEN, etc.) have pro-forma changes for new Berkeley DB, but are untested. PYTHON_VERSION is not passed to .MAKEFLAGS anymore PYTHON_DEFAULT_VERSION, PYTHON_DEFAULT_PORTVERSION and PYTHONBASE are not passed to the make environment anymore The conversion required a couple of ports to be updated to fit the changes and new requirements. Those included "bsd.python.mk" directly or contained checks in places, for which the USES framework would fail to provide correct values. Python modules directly using the upstream Python package (such as py-tkinter or py-sqlite3) were updated to avoid using the now unnecessary and remmoved knobs from "bsd.python.mk". * Use setuptools for all Python ports.wg2013-12-161-5/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Setuptools is the preferred method to manage Python distributions after many changes to the packaging ecosystem over the past couple of years. Only ports using USE_PYDISTUTILS= yes are affected by this commit, ports using USE_PYDISTUTILS= easy_install remains the same however this usage is now deprecated and should be converted to USE_PYDISTUTILS= yes. Some Python distributions do not work with setuptools out of the box because they extend the install command from distutils and not setuptools, and so they need to be patched accordingly. pip (which leverages setuptools) works around the issue by using eggs, however we want to get rid of those as well, as support for "flat" installation is unavailable or has other issues associated with it. This work allows us to unify how python packages are built, ensure that Python distributions are installed consistently, reduces complexity for Python port maintainers and paves the way for simplifying the Python ports framework in the future.
