- Reverted the default patch installed from v451 to v436 hence the
PORTEPOCH. Patch v451 has some issues with the client (some keyboard
mappings) but is recommended for the server. The are both network
compatible. If v451 is desired for running a server, WITH_451PATCH may
be defined.
- Change my E-mail from sean-freebsd@farley.org to scf@FreeBSD.org.
* Thanks go to Martin Tournoij who wrote the Anthology patch as well as

between Quake and Worms. Set on platform-based maps, players control
a cute little bugger with guns to take out as many opponents as
possible. The characters can jump but move more quickly using a
grappling hook, swinging through the levels. It can also be used
to lock other players to keep them near. The available weapons
include a pistol, shotgun, grenade launcher and a hammer. The
shooting and grappling direction is shown through a cursor, controlled
by the mouse. A special power-up temporarily provides a ninja sword,
used to slash through enemies. Each character has an amount of
health and shield. Items scattered around include additional ammo,
and health and shield bonuses. Unlike Worms, all the action that
happens is fast-paced and happens in real-time. It supports CTF
mode.

of Andalusia
This project is oriented to education and acknowledge of our land,
Andalusia.
"Nimuh" has been released under the Creative Commons license. It's
a puzzle type game and it's based in the "Theseus and the Minotaur
Mazes" game, but we decided to improve it by adding a 3D isometric
view. You can go through 40 different Andalusian locations and play
all the levels while you learn about the typical food, fiestas and
history of every place.

to the original Black Shades "Psychic Bodyguard FPS". Kill anyone
that tries to kill the VIP (the white guy). The psychic part is
seeing blue lines when bad guys line up on the VIP (when the line
is red they are about to shoot). Other powers (slow down, and
visions) are available - press F1 for how to use.
It has a few more user friendly options (in the ~/blackshades.config
file) as well as a help menu. Aside from that the internals have
had some major changes, but there is still a lot more to do. Other
options include 3rd person (which was in the original game, just
disabled). The other change that I enjoy is the lack of a busy loop
- now cpu usage isn't 100% - on any recent system it should be less
than 25%.

Anki is a program designed to help you remember facts (such as words and
phrases in a foreign language) as easily, quickly and efficiently as possible.
To do this, it tracks how well you remember each fact, and uses that
information to optimally schedule review times. With a minimal amount of
effort, you can greatly increase the amount of material you remember, making
study more productive, and more fun.
While Anki can be used for studying anything, it also ships with special
features designed to make studying Japanese and English easier: integrated
dictionary lookups, missing kanji reports, and more. Sample decks are also
provided for Russian.
py-anki is a library based on a theory called spaced repetition. In
simple terms, it means that each time you review some material, you
should wait longer than last time before reviewing it again.

automatically generates programs for the game Corewars by using Charles
Darwin's theories on natural selection. When you start CRE, here's what
happens:
1. A population of warriors is created by randomly selecting instructions.
2. Each warrior's fitness is tested by battling with other warriors in the
population.
3. The fittest warriors reproduce and replace less fit warriors.
4. The previous two steps are repeated indefinitely.

This is a collection of utility programs for the game of Core War. The
programs in this archive work well with the pMARS system, but most programs
will also work with other simulators. Below is an overview of what we have:
* mts - Short for "MARS Tournament Scheduler".
* mopt - The "multiple optimizer" calculates optimal sets of constants for
warriors.
* pname - pname renames warrior files based on the ;name line.
These additional tools have been included in the port but are not part of the
original ptools package:
* p3-2 - For generating p^3 redcode snippets.
* corestep - For finding optimal step constants (similar to mopt).
Note that the port prefixes all of these programs with "ptools-" to avoid
conflicts and/or confusions with other ports.

drop bombs on enemy targets, and it's meant to be quick and fun.
There can be up to 6 planes, at most two human-controlled. All
others will be computer-controlled. Network support is in to do
list.
You must shoot at another's planes, destroy others' base and try
to keep alive. You may return to your base to refill your ammo. The
scenery is randomly generated.

available in both English and German. Originally it was a modification for the
game Quake III Arena titled PadMod created in the year 2004. After the source
code for Quake III Arena was released, the game became standalone. The idea is
based on the Padman comic strip for the magazine PlayStation Games created by
the professional cartoon artist Andreas 'ENTE' Endres, who is also the man who
made many of the maps included with the game in 1998. The current version runs
on an enhanced version of the ioquake3 engine, which is based on the Quake III
Arena engine. Most of the maps in the game are lilliput style, and have a
commercial-quality level of graphic complexity. Because it was originally a
mod for Quake III Arena, most of the gameplay is similar. However, there is no
Capture the Flag mode in World of Padman. World of Padman fully supports bots
with a variety of skill levels in both online and offline play for all of the
game types included. A single-player mode has not yet been implemented.
Players can also record audio and video as they play. The game fully supports
modifications, and custom maps can be created.

It has some fun effects to liven things up a bit.
Multiplayer is supported on the same computer, although a net player would
not be hard to add given the plugin player feature.

released as freeware (software license). The game is designed to take
advantage of the beautiful environments available from the Torque engine it is
based on, while still offering the breakneck pacing and variety of styles
available from such classics as Quake and Tribes.
Gameplay is not the strafe-strafe-jump-strafe-shoot-strafe-run-like-hell style
a lot of games espouse; the addition of a jetpack adds a third dimension of
mobility that makes skill, forethought, and restraint necessities to winning.
Team sizes are ideal between 10 and 15 on each side, and the network code
allows 56k upwards to play smoothly. Game type offerings range from the
classic Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Duel to our own new types, e.g..
'War'.
Plenty of maps are provided by us, but the beauty of this game is its
customization possibilities. Mission creation has never been easier, with a
stable, full-featured editor integrated into the game engine itself. Skins,
models, and effects can all be modified by the end-user with commonly
available tools. The game has an Autodownload feature which means you never
have to leave the game to join new user created Client-Side and Server-Side
missions.

Doom. Odamex's goal is to emulate the feel of and retain many aspects of the
original Doom executables while offering a broader expanse of security
features, personal configuration, gameplay options, and editing features.
Odamex can run on a wide range of operating systems and hardware, so players
should be able to play on almost any platform. Features:
* The popular ZDoom 1.22 core engine and CSDoom 0.62 core netcode.
* Compatability with many major operating systems, including Windows, Linux,
FreeBSD and Mac OSX.
* Core gameplay modeled on the original doom2.exe.
* Streamlined WAD loading, allowing the server and clients to load WAD files
on the fly without needing to restart the client or server.
* Compatability with Boom, MBF and CTF Standard maps.
* Deathmatch, Cooperative, Team Deathmatch and CTF gametypes.
* Jumping, Mouselook and other non-standard features available as server-side
options.
* Comprehensive cheat and exploit countermeasures.
* An open source code base licensed under the GPL, available for anyone to
examine, compile, or modify to their liking.

From WWW:
"In short, we patched HO to work with the latest HT changes. Be aware that some
modules may not work as expected. We were not able fix all issues, perhaps they
are related due to errors of HT servers. We will keep an eye on these errors and
create more patches if needed."

GNOME 2.20 release notes can be found at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/ . Beyond that, this update
includes the new GIMP 2.4 (courtesy of ahze).
The GNOME 2.20 update also includes a huge change in the FreeBSD GNOME
hierarchy. We are now using the more standard DATADIR of ${PREFIX}/share
rather than ${PREFIX}/share/gnome. The result is that fewer patches and
hacks are needed to port GNOME components to FreeBSD. This will mean some
user changes may be required, so be sure to read /usr/ports/UPDATING for
more details.
This release and the things we accomplished in it would not have been
possible without mezz's crazy idea to collapse DATADIR, and his persistence
to make it happen successfully. Ahze and pav also deserve thanks for
their work on porting modules and testing the whole ball of wax on
pointyhat (respectively).
The FreeBSD GNOME team would also like to thank our various testers and
contributors:
