Unidesc consists of four programs for finding out what is in a Unicode file.
They are useful when working with Unicode files when one doesn't know the
writing system, doesn't have the necessary font, needs to inspect invisible
characters, needs to find out whether characters have been combined or in what
order they occur, or needs statistics on which characters occur.

New features for 1.0:
* pkg_genplist has a new run-mode which checks and reports pkg-plist
of current port is correct and what files and/or dirs are missing
or obsolete.
* pkg_trackinst got new option that handles +INSTALL, +DEINSTALL,
+DISPLAY files of pkgdb.
* pkg_genplist can be set to write new pkg-plist file with another
file name than "pkg-plist" with -o option.

a pkg-plist/pkgdb auto-generator for unpackaged softwares or unfinished
ports. It provides two commands:
* pkg_trackinst:
Tracks installation of unpackaged software and writes pkgdb
entry using the install log. Then, it also creates a binary
package for the installed package.
* pkg_genplist:
Generates `pkg-plist' of a port in current directory automatically
by a test installation.

ChangeLog:
* The user can use the -a command line option to include
files up to 32 times and the program
will include them in the Fix section.
* Problem Report definitions are handled with an opaque
PR_DEFS structure and accessed via
a helper function.
* Some of the code was moved into a new file (pr_defs.c).

has turned off show hosts. It's nice not to have to load 190+ images
just so I can select a host from the dropdown.
Do some general cleanup of the port infrastructure.
- Install into a staging directory in the build target and install
that.
- Add a target to generate the plist from the staging directory
rather than doing it by hand.
- Use a pkg-install script to copy conf.php.sample to conf.php as
needed instead of some bits in the make file and different ones
in the plist.
- Use SUB_FILES to handle pkg-message rather than hand-rolled sed.

the gmetad rrd databases. Add support for ganglia.sh for saving and
restoring these snapshots at shutdown and startup respectivly. This
makes it easier to use a ramdisk for rrddir which is necessicary for
large clusters as the load of updating the databases rapidly consumes
all available CPU.

Try to use cpufreq to get the frequency (maximum frequency not the
current one).
Add code to selectivly install libganglia and don't install it by

the library.
Add some Makefile features to the port to allow generation of custom

- New 'img_stat' tool to display details about the image file format
- New 'mmls' flag (-b) to print sizes in bytes
- New 'mmstat' tool to give details about the volume (media
management) system
- Non-printable charactors in UFS/ExtX names are replaced with '.'
- New Linux 'disk_sreset' tool to reset HPA on an ATA disk
- Renamed 'diskstat' to 'disk_stat' and 'sstrings' to 'srch_strings'
to make names less cryptic
Minor Bug Fixes:
- NTFS could go into an infinite loop if attribute list entry was
reallocated
- Last block group in ExtX fsstat output had incorrect percentage
of free blocks
- FreeBSD 5.x would produce incorrect 'icat' output for Ext2/3 and
UFS1 images because it used a 64-bit on-disk address

* SHA-256 has replaced SHA-1 as a hash function used for verifying
integrity of the ports tree.
* The RSA signature verification is now performed using OpenSSL
rather than "borrowing" code from FreeBSD Update.
* In addition to distributing the ports tree, portsnap now also
produces up-to-date INDEX, INDEX-4, and INDEX-5 files.
* When fetching a series of patches, portsnap now prints a simple
progress indicator.

interface and disk statistics every 5 seconds. It sends this data on to symux
for further processing. symon has been designed to inflict minimal performance
and security impact -- it can be run as nobody on the system it monitors.
symux is a non-priviledged daemon that listens to incoming symon traffic. symux
can write the incoming symon streams into rrd files. Clients interested in
monitoring machine state can also log into symux and receive data as ascii as
it arrives.
symon2web is a php script that can show the data stored in the rrd files.

The release notes can be found at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.10/notes/rnwhatsnew.html, and will give you a
good idea of what has gone into this release overall. However, a lot of
FreeBSD specific additions and fixes have been made. For example, this
release offers fixed ACPI support as well as new CPU freqeuncy monitoring
support. See the FreeBSD GNOME 2.10 upgrade page at
http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/faq210.html for the entire list as well
as a list of known issues and upgrade instructions.
GNOME 2.10, as well as all of our releases, would not be possible without
the great team that goes into porting and testign each and every component.
Thanks definitely goes out to ahze, adamw, bland, kwm, mezz, and pav for all
their work. We would also like to thank our adventurous users that chose to
ride the walrus. We'd especially like to thank the following users that
provided patches for GNOME 2.10:
ade
Yasuda Keisuke
Franz Klammer
Khairil Yusof
Radek Kozlowsk
And anyone else I may have accidentally omitted.
As with GNOME 2.8, 2.10 comes with a brand-spankin' new splashscreen
courtesy of Franz Klammer. However, unlike GNOME 2.8, we've included all
of the FreeBSD GNOME splashscreen entries with gnomesession. You can
use the deskutils/splashsetter port to choose the one you like best.
As always, GNOME users should _not_ use portupgrade alone to upgrade to
2.10. Instead, get the gnome_upgrade.sh script from
http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/gnome_upgrade.sh.
Enjoy!

* Extendable to parse non-standard fstab formats by defining a new Entry
class for that format.
* Easily examine and set mount options for an entry.
* Stable, functional interface.
