of GCC (usually an upstream release). It starts out as GCC 4.6.1 and
is thus in conflict with lang/gcc46 and will move towards later minor
versions of GCC 4.6 and then on to GCC 4.7.
lang/gcc will provide gcc46, g++46, gfortran46 etc. exactly like
lang/gcc46 with which it is interchangible.
This is also planned to be in sync with our existing USE_FORTRAN knob
so that users have the option of using this port, rarely updated, or
the corresponding lang/gcc46 which follows weekly upstream snapshots.
On the way rename %%GCC_VER%% in pkg-plist to %%GCC_VERSION%% and
make the Makefile machinery a bit more generic to minimize differences
between lang/gcc ports based on releases and those based on snapshots.

Sometimes patches for PostgreSQL touch its configure script. And the
logics inside current Makefiles for the documentation makes the manual
pages (and other stuff) to be dependent of the timestamp of the
top-level configure file. This triggers the rebuild of the manual
pages, but since some additional XML-related tools are needed, this
rebuild can fail.

The problem with GSSAPI without Kerberos is that configure.in has
very funny logics of choosing GSSAPI libraries:
{{{
if test "$with_gssapi" = yes ; then
if test "$PORTNAME" != "win32"; then
AC_SEARCH_LIBS(gss_init_sec_context, [gssapi_krb5 gss 'gssapi -lkrb5 -lcrypto'], [],
[AC_MSG_ERROR([could not find function 'gss_init_sec_context' required for GSSAPI])])
else
LIBS="$LIBS -lgssapi32"
fi
fi
}}}
This makes configure to happily choose -lgssapi_krb5 when the system
has Kerberos support (NO_KERBEROS is absent), but ld's '--as-needed'
will throw this library away when no Kerberos functions are used and
linker won't produce 'postgres' binary whining about unresolved
symbols:
{{{

When mode_t is char- or short-like, it will be promoted to the pure
int when it is passed as the variable argument [1], so we should pass
'int' to the va_arg.
I had also eliminated fflush for the stream opened read-only, since
it will always fail and there is no need to flush read-only streams.
